Students at TWA have been celebrating successful GCSE results that put them in good stead for exciting futures at West Coast Sixth Form and beyond. It was a morning of smiles as students and staff celebrated the culmination in two years of hard work, overcoming the challenges that lockdowns and remote learning presented them at the start of their courses.
Nigel Youngman Headteacher said:
“Students have every reason to be proud of their results. What has made today so special is seeing staff waiting enthusiastically to see their students open their results. Staff and students have worked hard together to make sure the results were the best they
could be. Saturday sessions, holiday revision and diligent planning for teaching mean students can feel proud today.”
Sophie Murfitt, Senior Prefect achieved great results including a 9 in Business Studies and 2 8s in English and Religious Studies praised staff and students. Sophie said:
“’I’m so proud of everyone and what we have all achieved and I can’t thank the staff at The Whitehaven Academy enough for the support and education provided by them throughout the years, this wouldn’t have been possible without them’
Faith Akinloye achieved 2 9s, 5 8s and 7s and was delighted with her results, echoing Sophie’s comments Faith said:
“ The support at the Whitehaven Academy is exceptional and every single teacher is committed to seeing students excel. I can’t thank the teachers enough for all they’ve done”
Abi Stout achieved 4 7s, a distinction star as well as 3 6s and a 5, she commented:
“Very excited to see what sixth form holds for me, so grateful for the amazing teachers who helped me get to where I am today”
Logan Agnew achieved 10 GCSEs with 2 9s, 7 8s and a 7, he commented:
‘Hard work pays off. I am beyond happy with my results and am now excited about my future at West Coast Sixth Form!’
