This week, we celebrate all the Primary School teachers who are returning to work for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils. Theirs is a challenging job, not only do they need to know about a variety of different subjects, but they must also be able to care for the well-being of their pupils, discuss progress with parents and carers, and work outside school hours to prepare lessons, resources and mark pupil work. In some schools, primary teachers must mark every book every day for several different subjects. They work long hours so that young children can learn key skills before entering secondary school. During the lockdown, they have been working tirelessly to continue to provide contact with their pupils, volunteer at child care hub schools in addition to teaching their own children at home.
Let us celebrate their hard work and think about their dedication to the pupils they teach this week, as many return to work. The Primary School Teacher.
