Students in year 7 and 8 have experienced their final workshop of three with Drama practitioner Dave Cryer as part of the fantastic Start Art project, a partnership project between the Academy and Rosehill Theatre. They have taken part in three workshops based on the recent performance of Beauty and the Beast at Theatre by the Lake. They have thoroughly enjoyed working in teams to create tableaux, improvise their own scenes and use real scripts and props from the professional performance.
“The workshops have helped me gain more confidence to perform” Jessica Wilson Y7
“It helps create character, have more of a voice and if you are not as keen on acting then you improve your skills” Connie McNally and Hana Farlam Y7.
Students in year 7 also experienced the interactive performance of Harbour Tales at Rosehill Theatre as part of the project. A fantastic opportunity for students to engage even further in their Performing Arts lessons at The Whitehaven Academy and to gain a greater understanding of performance in the theatre.
