2020 GCSE Results

Whilst results are not being published in the usual format  following the cancellation of examinations, this year we still celebrated our Year 11 students and their achievements. The results day this year was truly unique, following school closures and the cancelation of exams. However, this does not diminish the successes of our students and we are incredibly proud of them and what they have achieved. These results are based upon 5 years of hard work and are very well deserved.

Students who have performed particularly well include:

Lauren Kendall who achieved 5 grade 9s in Biology, Chemisty, Physics, History and Geography. She also achieved 3 grade 8s in English Literature, English Language and Maths alongside a grade 7 in French. Lauren is joining the West Coast Sixth Form in September and is planning to study Biology, Geography and English Language.

James Jennings achieved 7 grade 9s in Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Literature and Geography. He also achieved 2 grade 8s in English Language and French. James is planning to study A Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Sciences.

Carenza Curwen achieved a grade 8 in Geography, a grade 7 in Physics, 5 grade 6s in English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry and Music and a grade 5 in French. Carenza will be studying English Language, Performing Arts and Geography at the West Coast Sixth Form.

Georgie Woodburn achieved 3 grade 8s in Physics, Chemistry and History. She also achieved 2 grade 7s in Computer Science and English Language alongside grade 6s in English Literature and Maths. She plans to return to The West Coast Sixth Form to further her studies.

Alongside students who have achieved top grades we are incredibly proud of the students who have made exceptional progress throughout their time at the Whitehaven Academy. Students to note include:

Elise Armstrong is delighted with her grades, several of which are higher than her targets. This hard work has paid off and she has a place at Gen 2 to complete her Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

Tyler Cornish achieved the grades he needs to start a Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship with Cumbria County Council. He was over the moon and we are so happy for him.

Ellis Barnes is moving onto Lake College and we are very proud of the progress he has made during his time at The Whitehaven Academy and are delighted he got the grade he worked so hard for in History. The Accelerated Learning Department wish him well in the future.

Sharne Colley should be incredibly proud of her achievements. She is planning on returning to the West Coast Sixth Form to further her studies. Well done Sharne.

Aimee O’Driscoll is moving on to Lakes College to study Business Studies. She is thrilled with her results most notably grade 7s in Business Studies and History.

We would like to recognise and congratulate all of our students for their achievements and wish you all well, we have enjoyed welcoming  many students back to the West Coast Sixth Form in September. For students who are moving on to a new destination or who are starting an apprenticeship or employment we wish them the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about your continued success.
