The NHS Melissa bus and team recently visited The Whitehaven Academy. The team, from the NHS and The University of Cumbria, explained to our students career paths with the NHS, particularly within radiography. All of the team were friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about what they do and what our students could be doing in the future.
They provided students with many opportunity that included seeing inside a human body using VR, identifying parts of the body from X-rays (not as easy as you may think) and an experiment in the application of radiotherapy that involve Nerf guns. The students left with more knowledge about future careers and a taste of what it is like to work for the NHS. I can’t thank the team enough for giving our students this opportunity. We look forward to their return!’
