Are you aged between 14 and 25 with an interest in health and wellbeing then the Level 2 Award for Young Health Champions (YHC) is the qualification for you.
As a Young Health Champion you will be providing support to develop healthier lifestyles at your school, college or workplace and will have the opportunity to have your voice heard representing your peers on issues that affect you all.
Is the qualification for me?
•Are you a young person between the ages of 14 and 25?
•This qualification is for young people in schools, community settings, FE or HE who are interested in health and signposting health services to their peers.
What will I learn as a Young Health Champion?
•You will increase your knowledge about the risks to physical, mental and social health, ranging from social media to substance misuse.
•You will develop a better understanding of services and facilities available in your local community to support health improvement.
•You will engage with your peers to provide support and guidance needed to develop healthy behaviours.
•You will lead a health promotion campaign on an issue that really matters to young people in your local area.
Why should I get involved in the Young Health Champions qualification?
•You will gain the skills and confidence to listen and approach peers to provide support and signposting.
•You will understand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and learn the skills to make healthier choices.
•You will develop skills for the workplace.
•You will have a greater knowledge of the risks of unhealthy behaviours.
•You will have the opportunity to create links to key local and national support services.
•Personal development to add to your CV.
•Gain a recognised Level 2 Qualification with the opportunity to assist with teaching further groups of young Health Champions.
Which will be delivered virtually and both will commence towards the end of January 2021.
