React Engineering came to the academy to deliver their annual roadshow in collaboration with The Science Museum and the University of Carlisle. The show was centred around life in space and rockets and the various different ways Science has created rockets that take off. Year 7, 8 and 9 students were enthralled at the display from the London Science Museum with explosions, bangs and liquid Nitrogen clouds floating across the stage. This is part of an annual show, React Engineering put on in local schools. They have been coming to Whitehaven for a number of years, with each year delivering an even bigger and better show than the year before. This year was no different. One student commented, “Wow! That was exciting, can’t wait to get into Science!” just after the light display of gas igniting in a spiral tube before a mini rocket took off. Year 9 students were then invited back in the afternoon to participate in a workshop around engineering and the different fields they could explore after school.
